Charlie Cadigan takes on newly created position
Wilton, NH—On Tuesday, February 23, Charlie Cadigan joins the PEP Direct team as Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Opportunities. Cadigan brings more than 25 years of direct response fundraising experience to the Wilton-based direct marketing company. In this newly created position, he will work closely with the sales and marketing department to expand PEP Direct’s presence serving the nonprofit community.
“We’ve all known and respected Charlie over the past several years and we are very excited that we will get to work with him more closely,” said Sam Blackford, president and CEO of PEP Direct. “His knowledge and experience will further enhance that of the team we currently have in place.”
A well-known figure among nonprofit organizations, Cadigan joins PEP from Frontline Data Group, where he built and rebranded the company as Managing Director for the last four and half years. He has also held management and senior leadership positions at AB&C Group, Acxiom Corporation, and Epsilon, as well as a founding partner of TransAmerica Marketing Services. The Arlington, VA resident is a renowned industry speaker and has a long history of volunteer involvement with numerous industry associations, including the Direct Marketing Association, the Direct Marketing Association of Washington, D.C., and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Washington, D.C. Chapter.
Cadigan will report directly to Blackford, and will continue to be based in the Washington, D.C. area.

Wilton, NH—PEP Direct announced that it is now offering coin affixing as a value added service to its production capability menu. The Wilton, N.H.-based direct mail marketing company has invested in equipment that adheres coins of any denomination to mail pieces.
A combined effort by PEP employees in many departments, as well as some outside help with copywriting and Web coding, the site includes features that were not present or prominent in the previous site. Wilton, NH—EP Direct announced that it is now offering coin affixing as a value added service to its production capability menu. The Wilton, N.H.-based direct mail marketing company has invested in equipment that adheres coins of any denomination to mail pieces.
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters have been used by major nonprofits in direct mail fundraising programs to lift response rates. Nonprofits that are mailing coin-affixed packages are experiencing lifts in response rates of between 20 and 30 percent. The lift is presumably because the coin breaks through the clutter, therefore increasing open rates. PEP’s ability to affix the coins cost-effectively will subsequently increase these organizations’ revenue.
“As a direct mail service provider, PEP Direct is seeking out ways that we can better assist our clients,” said Sam Blackford, president. “By adding new technology and options, we are offering more value-added services, as well as giving them the means to improve their direct mail programs.”
PEP Direct’s postal experts have worked closely with the U.S. Postal Service to create programs that will be both cost effective and improve package design. As the USPS has established new regulations regarding what and how packages can be mailed, PEP has found ways to work within the regulations. 05.08.08 PEP Direct Announces Addition of Kidsave to Client Base
Children’s organization is newest full-service client
Wilton, NH—On May 7, PEP Direct announced that Kidsave is its newest full-service client. The Wilton, N.H.-based direct mail marketing company will be creating and completing a series of direct mail programs for the nonprofit organization.
As a full-service client, Kidsave will utilize PEP Direct for strategic planning, creative design, mail production, results analysis and donation processing. This is the first large-scale direct mail fundraising initiative the 11-year-old organization has undertaken.
“Kidsave is a natural fit for a direct mail fundraising program because of their compelling mission – helping older abandoned orphans find adoptive parents. This has the ability to connect with people emotionally,” said Megan Gibeau, vice president, strategic and client services. “This is a large program for an organization of their size and they selected PEP Direct because we are able to offer them all of the resources they needed in one location to get their program up and running.”
The nonprofit began its partnership with PEP Direct in 2006 when another client of the direct mail marketing company referred them. After completing a test acquisition mailing in October 2006, the first full rollout mailing will mail in early May.

04.30.08 PEP Direct Offers Clients Savings Opportunities
Direct marketing company increases service offerings
Wilton, NH—PEP Direct, the Wilton, N.H.-based direct mail marketing company, recently began offering a commingling mail service to all of its direct mail clients. Through this offering, clients will experience significant postage cost decreases, as well as faster in-home dates. Many of PEP Direct’s clients, including Paralyzed Veterans of America, March of Dimes and Guideposts, have opted to take advantage of the savings in the eight months the service has been offered.
“PEP Direct is constantly looking for new ways to add value to our clients’ direct mail programs,” said Mike Elithorpe, vice president, sales and marketing. “One of the most significant ways to do this is to pass on postal savings, which is why we looked into commingling as an additional service offering.”
Commingling is the process of integrating dissimilar mail into the same mail stream. The increased volume to the intended zip codes results in an average cost reduction of $0.03 per piece for nonprofit letter rate mailings.
PEP Direct partnered with PSI Group, utilizing its commingling center for its clients. Because the mail is sent to PSI, it bypasses the local post office, origin Sectional Center Facility (SCF) and origin Bulk Mail Center (BMC). The average delivery time, therefore, is reduced from 12 days to eight days.
